CBT therapy across the South East

The South East has the longest commute and some of the longest waiting lists in the country. It also has, especially around Brighton, Guildford, Oxford and Tunbridge Wells, dense clusters of BABCP-accredited CBT therapists in private practice.

Each county has its own Talking Therapies service: Surrey's is Mind Matters Surrey, Sussex runs Health in Mind, Kent is Vita Health Group, Hampshire is italk, Berkshire is Talking Therapies Berkshire West / East. All accept self-referral online without going through a GP. Realistic 2026 waits are 4–10 weeks for guided self-help and 3–6 months for 1:1 high-intensity CBT.

Private fees vary by belt: £80–£110 in the Oxford/Reading/Tunbridge Wells belt, £70–£95 in coastal Sussex and Hampshire. If you commute into London, your work health insurance almost certainly covers CBT — it is often the fastest route in.
