CBT therapy across Northern Ireland

CBT in Northern Ireland is delivered through Health and Social Care (HSC) — your GP refers you to your local primary care talking therapies service or to a specialist psychology team for more complex presentations.

The five HSC Trusts (Belfast, Northern, South Eastern, Southern, Western) each have primary care mental health hubs. Waits vary; Belfast and South Eastern Trust typically have better access to short-term CBT than the more rural Western and Southern Trusts.

Private CBT in Belfast typically runs £65–£95; in Derry, Lisburn and Bangor £60–£85. The BABCP register lists accredited practitioners across Northern Ireland and is the best way to verify training. Online CBT with a Northern Ireland-based therapist is widely available and often the fastest route to a first appointment.
